It’s almost that time again — yes, the All-Star break. And Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson has said his team could really use the time off.
But before that, we have the NBA trade deadline on Thursday (February 6). Will the Cavs make a move? I discuss all of that and a whole lot more on the latest Hoops Wire Live from 330 to Go. Watch on YouTube or directly below.
Anyway, when it comes to “breaks,” Atkinson and the coaching staff won’t actually get one. Neither will Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, or Evan Mobley. After all, each of the aforementioned will be taking part in All-Star weekend — Atkinson as the Eastern Conference coach, and Mitchell, Garland and Mobley as players.
But we’ve all seen the All-Star Game and it’s become less about the game and more like one big basketball party. So while some Cavs indeed will be there, they’ll still be relaxed and having some fun.
As for the trade deadline, don’t expect anything major from a team that is currently 30 games over .500 and sports an NBA-best mark of 39-9. If the Cavaliers do anything at all, it’s not likely to be something that will raise eyebrows.
.@AmicoHoops on @CLETalkingHeads: #Cavs look like a new team, but this is a team with playoff experience so there shouldn't be any doubt about how deep they can go https://t.co/AwV2PfT4Il

For the record, the deadline is Thursday at 3 p.m. EST. Before then, the Cavs will face the Dallas Mavericks at home (Sunday), the Boston Celtics at home (Tuesday), then travel to face the Detroit Pistons (Wednesday). So that’s back-to-back games against last season’s NBA Finalists and a date with J.B. Bickerstaff before the deadline even arrives.
In other words, when you’re as good as the Cavs have been, you focus on the task at hand. The front office can make any adjustments if need be.
Anyway, be sure to check out more on the show right here or simply in the player above.
Sam would NOT touch the roster as the NBA Trade Deadline approaches. #LetEmKnow

Would Detroit give a first for Okoro? If so, I would trade Okoro to Detriot for a first and no money. Then trade Levert to Phoenix for Nurkic and a first. Then trade Nurkic and 2 first and Khalifa Diop to Brooklyn for Cam Johnson. Under tax and better team.
And would have space for a buyout pick up.
