The Cavaliers have dropped two straight for one of the few times this season, but as I wrote in Dribbles, a couple of losses here and there are to be expected.
Coach Kenny Atkinson has said staying healthy entering the playoffs is a priority. So don’t be surprised if the 56-12 Cavs rest people and, hey, you know, lose a few more. But maybe not, too.
“Cleveland finishes the season with nine of its final 15 games on the road. But with a seven-game lead over Boston, the Cavs’ grip on the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference shouldn’t be tested too much,” wrote ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “Look for them to prioritize health down the stretch, as they did against Orlando when Evan Mobley was held out with a bruised foot.”
As for the loss to the Clippers … well, you’re not gonna go 68-0. It’s all about trying to bounce back quickly.
“You have to continue to get punched in the mouth at times to figure things out and you’d rather this happen now,” guard Donovan Mitchell told reporters. “This is a continuous learning process. Not hanging our heads. Understand we have to fix some things and be better.”
- In case you missed it, former NBA center and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins said he has some concerns with the Cavaliers entering the playoffs. You can read the full post here.
- The Cavs visit the Kings on Wednesday night in the second of a five-game, 10-day trip. Tipoff is 10 p.m. EST. Sacramento will be without injured center Domantas Sabonis, undoubtedly a major loss.
