The Cavaliers filled a two-way spot, signing forward Riley Minix to a two-way contract, per the NBA’s official transaction log.
Minix, 25, opened the season on a two-way deal with the Spurs, appearing in three games and logging eight total minutes before being waived in December to clear roster space for Kyle Mangas. He didn’t stay idle for long.
Since then, Minix has been with the G League’s Cleveland Charge, and the production has been hard to ignore.
In 12 regular-season games, he averaged 19.3 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting an efficient .556 from the field and .457 from three.
He’s been one of the Charge’s most reliable scoring options, showing touch, confidence, and consistency.
The move gives the Cavs a developmental wing who already knows the system. Cleveland had been carrying Tristan Enaruna and Emanuel Miller on two-way deals, but an opening became available when Nae’Qwan Tomlin was promoted to the standard 15-man roster.
Minix will occupy that third two-way slot and will be eligible to be active for up to 17 regular-season games, a prorated portion of the standard 50-game limit.
