The Cavaliers are signing guard Darius Brown II, sources told Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com. Brown spent last season as a rookie with the Cleveland Charge of the G League.
He was brought to camp last October by the Cavs as well, then waived three days later, before landing with the Charge.
Contract details haven’t been released, but it’s expected to be another Exhibit 10 deal, which allows the Cavs to keep Brown’s G League rights and gives him a financial bonus if he returns to the Charge and remains there for at least 60 days.
Brown, 26, is 6-foot-2 and attended Utah State — the same college as Cleveland guard Sam Merrill. That makes the Cavaliers the only NBA team with two former Aggies on their roster.
Fedor reported that Brown “will likely sign officially following the third preseason game and be available for the preseason finale next week against Detroit.”
Brown started 16 games for the Charge last season and averaged 7.7 points, 5.2 assists and 3.6 rebounds overall.
The Cavs will have to make another roster move before they can bring in Brown, which is likely why they are waiting.
