The Cavaliers have waived small forward Tre Scott, according to JD Shaw of Hoops Rumors. The move was also listed on the NBA’s transactions log.
Cleveland agreed to a non-guaranteed training camp contract with Scott earlier this month. Scott, 24, is 6-foot-8 and went undrafted out of Cincinnati in 2020.
He initially signed with Puerto Rican club Leones de Ponce, then joined the Salt Lake City Stars, the Jazz’s affiliate. He averaged 10.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 15 G League games.
After the season, Scott joined Cleveland’s summer league squad.
He was named American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year with the Bearcats in 2020, as well as a member of the All-AAC first team.
“Scott was one of six players who signed non-guaranteed contracts with the Cavs this summer,” wrote Arthur Hill of Hoops Rumors. “His departure leaves the team with 16 players under contract, with 10 fully guaranteed, plus reported agreements with Denzel Valentine and Kevin Pangos.”
