Cavs Are Rolling, But NBA Trade Idea Landing Them Nets’ Cameron Johnson Emerges

The Cleveland Cavaliers are rolling. They are up 3-0 against the Miami Heat in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs and appear ready to sweep Erik Spoelstra’s group.

However, an NBA trade idea landing the Cavaliers forward Cameron Johnson of the Brooklyn Nets emerged from the folks over at Bleacher Report

In a column called “1 Trade Every NBA Playoff Team Wishes It Could Make Right Now,” Andy Bailey proposed that the Cavaliers trade Max Strus, Isaac Okoro, a 2030 first-round pick swap and a 2031 first-round pick swap to the Nets for Johnson.

“Johnson could easily slot between the Darius GarlandDonovan Mitchell backcourt and the Evan MobleyJarrett Allen frontcourt as a better, higher-volume version of Strus,” Bailey wrote.

Johnson appeared in 57 games for the Nets this season. He averaged 18.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 47.5% from the field, 39.0% from beyond the arc and 89.3% from the free-throw line.

The Nets are in rebuild mode. They will probably listen to Johnson trade offers this summer.

With that said, if the Cavaliers don’t win it all this year, maybe Koby Altman gives Sean Marks a call about a potential Johnson trade.

Johnson will make $20,543,478 next season and $22,500,000 in 2026-27, the final season of his contract. The UNC product has career averages of 12.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists with the Phoenix Suns and Nets.
