Cavs bring back Riley Minix on two-way deal, waive Tristan Enaruna

Riley Minix’s time away from the Cavs didn’t last long.

The Cavs announced they have re-signed Minix to a two-way contract, waiving forward Tristan Enaruna to make room. Minix had been released Thursday when the team added Norchad Omier.

So the Cavs get a familiar player back while keeping Omier in the fold.

Minix, 26, appeared in one game this season before being waived, collecting three rebounds without scoring in six minutes. He played six games for the Cavs last season after making three appearances with the Spurs.

Most of his work came with the Cleveland Charge, where he averaged 18.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals in 24 games. He logged 30.1 minutes per night with the G League affiliate.

That gives the Cavs a player who already knows the organization and has shown he can produce with regular minutes at the developmental level.

Enaruna, 25, appeared in three games this season, averaging 2.3 points and 1.7 rebounds in 10 minutes. He had been on a two-way deal since Jan. 28.

This is a move at the back end of the roster, but those spots offer opportunities to evaluate players over time. The Cavs have decided to give Minix another look.
