Cavaliers small forward Cedi Osman is listed as probable for Friday’s road game against the Trail Blazers and appears ready to make his return.
Osman, 26, is 6-foot-7 and has been a key part to the Cavs’ resurgence, offering underrated energy and hustle off the bench. He is averaging 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals in his 26 appearances.
Like many of the other Cavs and players throughout the NBA, he had been in the league’s health and safety protocols.
Point guard Darius Garland exited and returned for Tuesday’s loss vs. the Grizzlies, and Osman’s return will give the Cavs all of the members of their regular rotation — or at least, the ones who are healthy. Guards Ricky Rubio (knee) and Collin Sexton (ditto) are out for the season.
Point guard Rajon Rondo, acquired from the Lakers in a three-team trade earlier in the week, is also listed as probable and expected to make his Cavs’ debut.
“I kind of pride myself on doing the impossible and doing the unthinkable,” Rondo said. “This group has the talent to do it. I’m looking forward to making some noise.”
The Cavs (21-17) have lost five of seven and sit in sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Friday marks their longest trip of the season, with the next six games taking place on the road.
