Donovan Mitchell keeps stacking them. And he keeps doing it in a Cavaliers jersey.
Mitchell reached a meaningful milestone Friday night in Cleveland’s 118–113 road win over Charlotte, dropping 32 points to record his 100th 30-point game as a Cavalier.
It came the hard way, too — second night of a back-to-back, against a Hornets team that had been red hot, in a building that felt anything but quiet.
Mitchell didn’t make it about the number afterward. He made it about the place.
“Hopefully I get 100, 200 more, that’s the goal,” Mitchell said. “It’s crazy to think that I’ve been here this long. It doesn’t feel like it. It feels like it was just yesterday. I love being here. I love being a part of this group, love being part of this organization and this city.
“And to see the crowd we have on the road, man, a lot of Cavs fans. From Ohio. Before I got here, I didn’t realize how many people were actually from Ohio. So to hear that everywhere I go, man, it’s special. To see the impact we have on the city, as a team.”
That part matters. The comfort. The buy-in. The ownership.
Mitchell scored 13 of his 32 in the fourth quarter, repeatedly answering Charlotte runs and closing the game the way franchise players do. The Cavs have now won seven straight and nine of 10 overall, with Mitchell firmly steering the wheel.
James Harden chipped in 18 points and eight assists, again settling naturally into the role of organizer and enhancer. He’s not here to replace anything. He’s here to sharpen it.
This team still revolves around Mitchell. And nights like this are the reminder.
One hundred down. Plenty more to go.
