Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell is questionable for Sunday’s home game vs. the Timberwolves with what is being called a right ankle strain, per the NBA official injury report.
Mitchell suffered the injury in the final seconds of Friday’s loss to the Warriors while driving to the basket. He drove to the basket, then collapsed clutching at the ankle. While he remained in the game and made a pair of free throws, he limped to the locker room. (Related Dribbles.)
Mitchell, 26, is having another All-Star season in his first year with the Cavs, averaging 31.7 points, 6.1 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 11 appearances.
He missed one game already with a tweaked ankle. Mitchell was listed as questionable ahead of that game as well.
The Cavs (8-4) have lost three straight after an eight-game winning streak. Sunday’s game marks a return to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse after playing their last five on the road, including four straight in California.
