Cavaliers rookie forward Evan Mobley has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols, the team announced.
Mobley joins second-year guard forward Isaac Okoro as the second member of the team to enter protocol this week. Forwards Lauri Markkanen and Kevin Love entered earlier this season.
Mobley will now either need to sit out 10 days or return two negative tests in a 24-hour span to exit the protocol. As of now, most people have Mobley pegged as the Rookie of the Year frontrunner.
The NBA reportedly has a vaccination rate of 97 percent, but like the NFL and NHL, is experiencing a major outbreak of positive tests and players entering protocol. The Associated Press reported Thursday evening that about 8 percent of NBA players were in protocol.
