The Cavaliers may finally be getting Max Strus back.
Strus, who has missed the entire season while recovering from surgery to repair a Jones fracture in his left foot, is listed as probable for Sunday’s home game against the Dallas Mavericks, according to the official NBA injury report.
The veteran wing has been ramping up in recent days, including practices with the Cleveland Charge as part of his return process. The Cavs have said recent imaging showed continued healing in the foot, allowing him to progress from individual workouts to controlled team activities.
There have been no setbacks during the buildup.
The Cavs are expected to ease Strus back into the rotation whenever he does return, likely with a minutes restriction for the remainder of the regular season.
Strus has been a steady piece of the Cavs’ rotation since arriving two seasons ago, averaging 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists across 120 games, including 107 starts.
The Cavs enter Sunday’s matchup at 41-26 after blasting Dallas on the road Friday night. The Mavericks sit at 22-45.
Also on the injury report for Cleveland, Jaylon Tyson is questionable with ankle soreness, while Jarrett Allen, Sam Merrill, Craig Porter Jr. and Tyrese Proctor are all listed as out.
Tipoff Sunday at Rocket Arena is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
