What do you need to know about Cavaliers preseason basketball? Well, they went 0-4 last year, then opened the regular season 15-0 and finished 64-18.
So yeah, preseason results mean … not much, man.
Still, it all tips off Tuesday at Rocket Arena, when the Cavs host the Bulls in the first of four exhibitions.
Oct. 7 & 9: Bulls
The Cavs and Bulls will meet in a home-and-home. Chicago took both preseason games last year, then Cleveland swept them when it actually counted — including a dominant in-season tournament win.
The storyline this time? Lonzo Ball facing his former team after being dealt for Isaac Okoro this summer.
Oct. 12: Celtics
Boston comes in with a different look. Anfernee Simons joins the backcourt, Kristaps Porzingis is with the Hawks, and Al Horford is now a Warrior. Oh, and Jayson Tatum is likely out for the year.
The Cavs split with Boston last season, and this matchup could give an early read on how Cleveland stacks up against a (probably former) East power.
Oct. 14: Pistons
Caris LeVert, Javonte Green, and former Cavs coach J.B. Bickerstaff are among the names you know for a Detroit squad on the rise.
Bickerstaff helped engineer a 30-win turnaround last season, and thanks to these Pistons, the Central Division looks as competitive as it has been in years.
