The Cavaliers have signed point guard Tim Frazier to a 10-day contract to help shore up the backcourt after an a right toe injury to Rajon Rondo, per reports.
Cleveland’s backcourt was already remarkably thin prior to Rondo being sidelined, with Darius Garland (back) and Caris LeVert (foot) both watching in street clothes. Rondo is expected to miss about two weeks, and LeVert anywhere from one to two.
Frazier, 31, is 6-foot-0 and has no shortage of experience in these types of situations. He signed two 10-day deals with the Magic earlier this season, and even appeared in 10 games before his second deal expired in early January.
With Orlando, he compiled averages of 3.7 points, 3.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 19.9 minutes per game. But that’s not all.
Since entering the league in 2014, he has spent time with the Grizzlies, Pistons, Bucks, Wizards, Trail Blazers, 76ers and Pelicans (on two separate occasions).
Frazier joins Cavs forward Lamar Stevens as the only Penn State alums in the entire NBA.
The Cavs (35-24) have lost three straight, all on the road. They are now getting three straight at home, starting Saturday vs. the Wizards.
