The Cavaliers have agreed to a contract with undrafted shooting guard RJ Nembhard, according to JD Shaw of Hoops Rumors.
Nembhard, 22, is 6-foot-5 and spent all four years of college at TCU. He averaged 15.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists last season as a senior.
After that, Nembhard played with the Heat in summer league.
Cleveland has been adding young players who are long shots to make the final roster to camp, most likely to fill out the squad for the G League’s Cleveland Charge.
The list includes small forward Tre Scott and center Tacko Fall, who have both officially been signed. Undrafted shooting guard Mitch Ballock is also expected to sign with the Cavs. (Full story.)
All of the aforementioned players will have uphill climbs to make the final roster, but will be eligible to earn a bonus of up to $50,000 if they join the Charge for at least 60 days.
Nembhard’s father, Ruben Nembhard, appeared in a combined 10 games with the Trail Blazers and Jazz during the 1996-97 season.
