The Cavaliers are signing shooting guard Sam Merrill to a 10-day contract, per Shams Charania and Kelsey Russo of The Athletic.
Merrill, 26, is 6-foot-4 and has been playing with the Cleveland Charge of the G League, averaging 17.5 points and shooting just less than 44 percent on 3-pointers. Shooting is his forte but passing is also considered a strength.
Selected by the Pelicans with the No. 60 overall pick in 2020, Merrill immediately was traded to the Bucks. Along with Milwaukee, he has spent with with the Grizzlies.
The Cavs have been looking for outside shooting and Merrill fits the description. He should get an opportunity to provide it off the bench over the next 10 days.

At that point, the Cavs will have to decide to sign him to another 10-day deal or have him return to the Charge. Players can be signed to two 10-day deals with the same team before rules require them to be signed to a standard contract or be released.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are planning to sign guard Sam Merrill to a 10-day contract out of their NBA G League Charge affiliate, sources tell me and @kelseyyrusso.
