We all see the rumors about Donovan Mitchell and occasional demands that the Cavaliers need to trade him soon.
But those on the very inside of the NBA continue to shoot them down.
First came ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who reported the following of a possible Mitchell sweepstakes: “There is no Donovan Mitchell Sweepstakes.”
Wojnarowski added that the Cavs strongly believe, when healthy, they are capable of a “deep playoff run.”
Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports relayed something similar — that the Cavs have no desire to trade Michell.
And now the latest comes from Zach Lowe of ESPN, who wrote that the Cavs have a strong stance against trading Mitchell, and it’s not about to change unless he specifically asks for it to change.
Lowe’s exact words were the Cavs “have shown no inclination to discuss Mitchell trades at this point,” which is something “that might not change unless Mitchell expresses some imminent unhappiness in Cleveland.”
We won’t hear the end of this, of course, until after the Feb. 8 trade deadline. But on Feb. 9, Donovan Mitchell will still be on the Cavs’ roster.
