Cavs Waive Guard Kevin Pangos

The Cavaliers have waived point guard Kevin Pangos, as first reported by Hoops Wire and confirmed via the NBA transactions log.Kevin Pangos

Pangos, 29, is expected to return to Europe, where he spent six seasons before joining the Cavs in training camp.

Pangos signed a two-year deal with the Cavs prior to the season, with the first year of about $1.67 million guaranteed. The second year of the deal was to pay him $1.75 million.

But he never found a consistent role with the Cavs, appearing in just 24 games and averaging 1.6 points and 1.3 assist. Instead of using Pangos while Darius Garland has been injured, the Cavs turned to Rajon Rondo or two-way guard Brandon Goodwin, who filled in admirably.

Pangos, 28, has widely been considered one of the best all-around guards in EuroLeague, averaging 13.9 points and 6.7 assists last year with Russian club Zenit.

A native of Canada, Pangos went undrafted after four seasons at Gonzaga in 2015, when he was named West Coast Conference Player of the Year.

Pangos very well could sign with Russian power CSKA Moscow, per Kostas Melayess of Gazzetta.gr.
