Former Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs guard/forward Cedi Osman has reached agreement on a contract with Greek club Panathinaikos, the team announced.
Osman reportedly was closing in on a deal with Spanish power Real Madrid before deciding on Panathinaikos.
Osman, 29, is 6-foot-7 and appeared in 72 games with the Spurs last season, averaging 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists, shooting 47.9 percent from the field. Before that, he spent six years with the Cavs, averaging no less than 10.5 points from 2018-22.
Osman did draw some interest from NBA teams in free agency, but sources told Hoops Wire no one was willing to give him a guaranteed deal. So Osman took the best international offer.
He was originally selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round (31st pick) of the 2015 NBA Draft, then immediately traded to the Cavs. He remained overseas for his first two professional seasons, with Turkish club Anadolu Efes, before joining Cleveland in July 2017.
He signed an extension with the Cavs two years later, then was part of a three-team trade with the Spurs and Miami Heat last offseason. That deal sent Osman and forward Lamar Stevens (and a 2030 second-rounder) to San Antonio, a 2026 second-rounder to Miami, and guard/forward Max Strus to Cleveland.
Osman appeared in 476 regular-season games during his seven years in the NBA, averaging 9.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.
