Perhaps the Boston Celtics aren’t a finished product — even after landing big man Kristaps Porzingis and veteran guard Jrue Holiday this past offseason.
Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, more moves may be yet to come from head of basketball operations Brad Stevens. More specifically, Charania said on his regular spot on FanDuel TV’s Run It Back that the Celtics may be looking to “beef up” their bench ahead of the February trade deadline.
In other words, keep an eye out for experienced players who are coming off the bench for losing teams (such as Detroit Pistons wing Alec Burks or San Antonio Spurs small forward Doug McDermott).
Boston will have some assets with to work, such as first-round picks and a trade exception, as Charania explained. It often doesn’t take much in today’s NBA for contenders to land a veteran player or two from a bad situation. So it won’t be a matter of if the Celtics can get a player, but who they want and how they go about it.
"I expect the Celtics to be active in the trade market as we get closer to February, to try to see if they can beef up their bench rotation."@ShamsCharania's biggest concern for the Celtics is late game execution, what kind of player are they missing? 🤔
