The Celtics have submitted a big to host NBA All-Star Weekend at TD Garden, as relayed by Ennio Terrasi Borghesan of Sportando.
Boston hosted the first All-Star Game in 1951, then next hosted it in 1964. Despite the Celtics’ long-standing tradition, Boston hasn’t hosted a game since. And that was long before the All-Star festivities took up an entire weekend.
In fact, until 1973, the All-Star Game was typically held on Tuesday night, as opposed to Sunday afternoon, followed by Sunday night.
The next available All-Star Weekend falls in 2025. The Jazz are scheduled to host it next year, with the Pacers to follow in 2024.
The NBA just wrapped up its 75th Anniversary season celebration in Cleveland, host of its first All-Star Game since 1997.
