Celtics Talking to Wizards About Trade for Kristaps Porzingis

The Celtics are pursuing Wizards forward Kristaps Porzingis in a trade that would entail Porzingis opting into his contract before heading to Boston, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Wizards have been in the process of resetting the roster under new team president Michael Winger, who has already arranged a deal that will send star guard Bradley Beal to the Suns.

Porzingis is expected to exercise the $36 million option on his contract.

The Celtics and Wizards have spoken already about the framework of a Porzingis trade, Charania said.

That said, the Wizards have expressed interest in bringing back Porzingis on a new contract. Along with the Celtics, other contenders have been expressing interest in a potential Porzingis trade, per Charania.

Along with the Porzingis and Beal news, Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma is opting out of his $13 million contract and entering free agency, as we relayed here.
