The Celtics intend to sign free agent guard/forward Matt Ryan to a two-way contract, per Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Ryan, 24, is 6-foot-7 and went undrafted out of Chattanooga in 2020. He has been playing for the Gran Rapids Gold of the G League, the Nuggets’ affiliate.
Prior to playing a season at Vanderbilt, he also played college basketball at Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. He spent the 2021 summer league season with the Cavaliers, then signed with the Nuggets.
Ryan was waived by the Nuggets on Oct. 11, signing with the Gold a few weeks later. Now, he becomes the latest young prospect added to the roster, as Boston signed Kelan Martin and Malik Fitts to 10-day contracts last week.
Shooting guard Brodric Thomas, formerly of the Cavaliers, is the Celtics’ other two-way player.
