Kentucky wing Chris Livingston has cancelled his remaining workouts with teams ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
While Livingston isn’t viewed as a first-round pick, it is believed that he may have received a promise from a team that he will either be drafted or signed as a rookie free agent. Livingston has not been listed in the majority of mock drafts from respected outlets.
But John Hollinger of The Athletic reported that the promise from a team to Livingston may involve a two-way contract — meaning he would split his time between the NBA team and its G League club.
Livingston is 6-foot-6 and played high school ball at Akron Buchtel and Hudson Western Reserve Academy in Ohio, before finishing at Oak Hill (Va.) Academy. He spent one uneven season at Kentucky, and scouts who spoke to Hoops Wire have been mixed in their reviews.
One told Hoops Wire that Livingston is listed as the No. 73 prospect on his team’s draft board. That’s for a draft of 60 total players. Another said he loved Livingston’s upside and called him “a true sleeper.”
Most indicated he needs work on the release of his shot jump, but is an outstanding athlete with lots of NBA promise around the rim.
Livingston spent one season at Kentucky, averaging 6.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in 34 games. He is represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.
As we relayed here, the Cavaliers were one of the teams that was expected to hold an individual workout with Livingston. They still intend to work out Eastern Michigan forward Emoni Bates, another top-notch high school prospect, among others.
In all, Livingston had seven pre-draft workouts scheduled, Charania reported.
