The Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks are two NBA teams showing interest in international guard Aleksa Avramovic, who is coming off a fine showing with Serbia at the Paris Olympics.
Avramovic, 29, is 6-foot-3 and has spent his entire professional career playing internationally, most recently with Serbian club Partizan.
He also helped the Serbian national team win the bronze medal at the Olympics, while playing alongside Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.
“Avramovic will turn 30 around the start of the NBA season in late October,” RealGM wrote. “At the Olympics, he averaged 10.5 points on 53.3% shooting from the field and 36.8% shooting from behind the arc.”
The Clippers are looking to add depth after losing star forward Paul George to the Philadelphia 76ers this past season. Meanwhile, the Hawks traded Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans and could use some veteran help in the backcourt.
Neither the Clippers nor Hawks have made any sort of offer to Avramovic, BasketNews reported.
Avramovic recently agreed to a deal with CSKA Moscow, and unless an NBA team makes a concrete offer by the middle of the week, he’s likely to remain with the Russian club.
“Overall, Avramovic averaged 10.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.7 steals, and 12.8 EFF across six Olympic appearances,” the outlet wrote. “Avramovic was also recognized as the best defender of the Olympics, further enhancing his appeal to teams.”
The Clippers added guard Kevin Porter Jr. this offseason, while the Hawks acquired guard Dyson Daniels in the Murray trade with the Pelicans. So both teams have already taken steps to shore up the guard spot.
