The Clippers are seeking help at point guard and the Jazz are apparently looking to deal. So perhaps there will be a match there ahead of the Feb. 9 trade deadline.
Per Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the Clippers do indeed have interest in veteran Jazz point guard Mike Conley, and with the Jazz beginning a bit of a slide, some suspect they are more than willing to part with some players — in exchange for younger guys and more picks.
For the Clippers, John Wall admittedly has been so-so (and is now injured), and Reggie Jackson has been demoted. So it would not be a surprise if they were looking for someone efficient and consistent to put next to Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
Conley, 35, is that type of point guard. He is the lone starter remaining from last year’s playoff team, and is averaging 10.2 points and 7.5 assists in 34 appearances this year.
Per multiple sources, the Jazz have indeed been active in trade talks, and rival teams believe they are indeed willing to keep their youth movement alive and play the NBA lottery in the spring.
Along with the Conley rumors, the Jazz reportedly are exploring ways to acquire Hawks forward John Collins, including a three-team deal that would involve the Cavaliers. We have that full post here.
