Clippers star forward Kawhi Leonard will miss Game 3 of the first-round series vs. the Suns with a right knee sprain, the team announced.
Leonard aggravated the injury in the Clippers’ Game 1 victory, then played with the injury in Game 2, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. He will sit out for the first game of the series in Los Angeles and is considered day-to-day moving forward.
The Clippers have already been playing without forward Paul George, who is expected to miss the entire series. George also has a sprained right knee.
Per Wojnarowski, Leonard’s knee sprain is unrelated to his previous ACL injury, which kept him out all of last season and has required rest this year.
Game 3 is tonight at 10:30 p.m. EST. The series is tied at 1-all.
Leonard aggravated knee in Game 1, played through it in Game 2 and is expected to be day-to-day ahead of Game 4 on Saturday, source tells ESPN. Injury isn't related to his previous ACL injury. https://t.co/v7mXgQLokN
