The Clippers are doubling down on Lawrence Frank.

Los Angeles and its president of basketball operations have agreed to a multiyear contract extension, per Joe Vardon and Sam Amick of The Athletic. League sources indicate the deal is believed to run four years. Other front office extensions are expected to follow.

Frank has led the Clippers since 2017 and earned NBA Executive of the Year honors in 2020. His tenure has included bold swings, heavy expectations, and one conference finals appearance in 2021 under Tyronn Lue, the only head coach Frank has hired in LA.

The timing is notable.

Just weeks ago, the optics around the organization were rough. The team stumbled out of the gate. Frank drew criticism for sending Chris Paul home in early December.

The franchise has also been navigating an ongoing NBA investigation tied to alleged salary cap circumvention involving Kawhi Leonard, which team officials have denied.

Then came the turnaround.

Since Dec. 20, the Clippers have flipped the narrative, winning 15 of 18 games and posting one of the league’s best net ratings over that stretch. Leonard has looked dominant when available, averaging nearly 32 points per game in that span, while James Harden has steadied the offense with scoring and playmaking.

Veteran big man John Collins, acquired in a three-team deal last summer, has also emerged as a key piece in the resurgence.

In short, it’s about stability at the top. Momentum on the floor. And belief from ownership that Frank is still the right steward for what comes next.
