Clippers guard/forward Norman Powell is facing another injury setback after suffering a hamstring strain during his brief return to action on Sunday.
Powell, who had missed five games due to left knee tendinopathy, played just nine minutes before leaving the game.
According to Clippers officials, Powell will be reevaluated in 10 days, with a follow-up assessment scheduled for March 14.
This injury further complicates matters for Los Angeles, which has struggled since the All-Star break, posting a 1-6 record. The Clippers now sit ninth in the Western Conference with a 32-29 mark, having spent much of the season within the top six.
Powell had been a key contributor to the team’s success in 2024-25, posting career-high averages of 23.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game across 46 outings, while shooting an impressive .494 from the field, .424 from three-point range, and .821 from the free-throw line.
The latest injury also dashes Powell’s chances of qualifying for the NBA’s Most Improved Player award, as he will no longer be able to meet the 65-game requirement.
In Powell’s absence, the Clippers have leaned on newcomers Bogdan Bogdanovic and Ben Simmons in regular rotation roles, while Kawhi Leonard, Kris Dunn, and Amir Coffey have all seen increased minutes.
