Star forward Kawhi Leonard is more focused on the end of the season than feeling his best right now, he told reporters after the Clippers’ win over the Celtics on Tuesday.
“I’m focusing on the end of the year,” Leonard said, via Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN. “Playoff basketball. Doesn’t matter about tonight.”
- Clippers coach Tyronn Lue added he’s noticed a clear difference in Leonard lately. “The last couple of games, he’s just playing with more pace,” Lue said, via Youngmisuk. “The long stretches have helped him get into a more of a rhythm, offensively and defensively.”
- The win over the Celtics was the Clippers’ “signature win of the year,” and shows what they’re capable of with both Leonard and forward Paul George healthy and in the lineup together, Youngmisuk wrote.
- Leonard missed all of last season after ACL surgery and has needed rest this season. “It’s the same Kawhi,” George said. “He’s just playing more, he’s getting more reps. … More than anything, he’s just more aware of his minutes and being on a minute restriction that with the minutes that he does have, he’s going to make them count.”
