The Clippers have promoted Trent Redden to general manager and Mark Hughes to senior VP/assistant GM under head of basketball operations Lawrence Frank, the team announced in a press release.
Redden takes the place of Michael Winger, who left to become president of the Wizards.
Redden has been with the Clippers as an assistant GM since 2017. Before that, he spent 11 seasons with the Cavaliers in the same role. Back then, David Griffin was GM of the Cavs.
Hughes also came to the Clippers in 2017, with the title of assistant GM.
Both Redden and Hughes have drawn interest from other teams as potential front-office additions, as relayed by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Marc Stein of The Stein Line was the first to report that Redden could be in line for a promotion. On Monday, the Clippers made it official.
Los Angeles was eliminated by the Suns in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs and is facing some big roster decisions this offseason.
