The Clippers are re-signing guard Reggie Jackson on a two-year contract, agents Aaron Mintz and Erika Ruiz told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Jackson will earn around $21.6 million, the maximum the Clippers can offer via his Early Bird rights.
If you include soon-to-be-signed star forward Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers will have 13 players under contract. The Clippers will still have a $5.9M miod-level exception at their disposal, as noted by ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
Their cap hit for signing Jackson will be greater than $10 million next season and more than $11 million the year after that, Marks added.
“Jackson played a huge role in the Clippers run to the conference finals after taking over the starting job and was a top offseason priority to keep,” Wojnarowski wrote.
Jackson, 31, averaged 10.7 points and 3.1 assists in 67 regular-season games, then seemed to pick it up in the playoffs. He averaged 17.8 points during the Clippers’ run to the Western Conference finals.
The Celtics, Knicks, Pelicans and Nuggets all were linked to Jackson after the season, but there seemed to be little doubt he would return to the Clippers.
