The John Wall era with the Clippers has reached an end, after just several months together.
Per Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the Clippers will try to trade Wall before Thursday’s 3 p.m. EST deadline. If that proves to be unsuccessful, the Clippers and Wall will agree on a contract buyout, at which point he would enter free agency.
Wall, 32, signed a one-year deal with Los Angeles after sitting out all of last season with the Rockets. His contract with the Rockets was bought out at the end of the season.
This year, he’s averaged 11.4 points and 5.2 assists in 34 games — showing that he can still help a team. Apparently, though, it will no longer be this team.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, Wall spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Wizards. There is a chance he could return in the event of a buyout, sources told Hoops Wire.
John Wall's tenure with the Clippers is nearing an end, league sources say.
Sources say the Clippers are still trying to trade Wall before Thursday's 3 PM ET trade buzzer but are expected to buy out the former All-Star if no deal develops.
