Good news, Clippers fans. Kawhi Leonard will at least be ready for training camp.
After that, well, it’s generally anyone’s guess, as Leonard has struggled with knee issues — and other ailments — over the last two seasons.
But coach Tyronn Lue said they are hopeful Leonard will play, and a lot, as the Clippers are mostly running it back with Leonard and fellow star Paul George, as well as Russell Westbrook.
“We expect him to be ready by training camp,” Lue said of Leonard. “He will be 100 percent by the time training camp hits and we just gotta be ready for when training camp hits with our medical staff, we just make sure we are doing the right things as far as practices and games and making sure the minutes are right.”
The Clippers have still never reached the Finals. But they are hoping this will be the year it all comes together. If not, well, it’s hard to envision them carrying on with the current plan. And you really couldn’t blame them if that were the case.
