The Kings have picked up the option on the contract of center Damian Jones, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
In addition, they guaranteed the contract of forward/center Chimezie Metu, per James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area.
As noted by ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the Kings had until today’s deadline to decide whether to pick up on the $1.97 million option on Jones’ contract.
Jones, 26, is 6-foot-11 and appeared in 17 games with Sacramento to end last season, averaging 6.9 points and 4.5 rebounds. He also proved to be a nuisance for rival teams near the basket.
Originally selected by the Warriors with the No. 30 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Jones has also spent time with the Hawks, Suns and Lakers.
Metu, 24, is 6-9 and was originally selected by the Spurs in the second round in 2018. He averaged career-highs of 6.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 36 games in Sacramento last season.
“He is now under contract for a guaranteed $881,398, with potential for the entire seasons deal at $1.8 million,” Ham reported.
