Grizzlies guard/forward Dillon Brooks has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocol, the team announced in a release.
The Grizzlies made the announcement a little more than an hour before tipoff of Thursday’s game vs. the Lakers. He becomes the second member of the team to enter the protocol, joining standout point guard Ja Morant, who has been out of action while nursing an injured knee.
Brooks will have to quarantine for 10 days or return two negative tests in a 24-hour span. Evan Barnes of the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported that the Grizzlies have been 100 percent vaccinated against COVID-19.

Still, as we are seeing on countless situations across the league, that is not keeping players and staff members from testing positive.
“We’re still figuring that out from the league,” Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said, via Barnes. “They’re studying all this stuff right now and trying to give us the best solutions to navigate day by day.”
Brooks, 25, is 6-foot-7 and averaging 17.1 points in 12 games. He is widely considered the Grizzlies’ best defender to boot.
