Warriors forward Draymond Green is declining the $27.5 million option on his contract to become an unrestricted free agent, agent Rich Paul told Shams Charaia of The Athletic.
The move was to be expected, and while Green has been linked to a few other teams, most around the league seem to think he will re-up with the Warriors on a longer deal.
“I want to be a Warrior for the rest of my life,” Green said recently, via Mark Medina of Sportsnaut. “I want to ride out with the same dudes I rode in with. We put the work in to make that happen. … But there’s a bunch of things to take into account.”
Paul told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that nothing is yet set in stone.
“We will continue to talk to Golden State and explore all options,” Paul said.
Green, 33, averaged 8.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 73 games this past season in his typical point forward role. He remains one of the league’s most versatile defenders and energy players.
