Magic
- Guard Cole Anthony is the latest Magic player to go down with an injury, joining the likes of guards Jalen Suggs, Gary Harris and Markelle Fultz, and forward Jonathan Isaac on the sideline.
- Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Anthony suffered an oblique injury during Wednesday’s loss to the Cavaliers and is out indefinitely.
- As of now, R.J. Hampton, Kevon Harris and Terrence Ross are the only healthy guards, likely leading to even bigger lineups, RealGM noted.
Cavaliers
It appears the Cavaliers have ruled out a Friday return for point guard Darius Garland, who is progressing from a left eye injury suffered in the season opener.
Garland attended shootaround with protective eyewear prior to Wednesday’s win over the Magic and “it’s just a matter of time,” before he is back, coach J.B. Bickerstaff said.
Once Garland does return, he will likely continue to wear the protective goggles. With Garland listed as out for Friday’s road game vs. the Celtics, the Cavs will presumably target Sunday’s home game vs. the Knicks as a return date.

Celtics
Forward Grant Williams was suspended for one game for making contact with a referee, and Williams said he has since apologized, via Jay King of The Athletic.
“It’s one of those things that emotions kind of get the best in the moment. There was no intent at all,” Williams said, via King.
Williams added that the contact with the referee was “nowhere near intentional” and that the punishment was “just,” via King.
- Per ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the suspension will cost Williams $29,698. The Celtics will also receive a tax variance credit of $14,849, Marks noted.
