The Bulls have officially announced the acquisition of Lonzo Ball in a sign-and-trade with the Pelicans, though the move remains under investigation by the NBA for tampering.
In return, the Pelicans received Tomas Satoransky, Garrett Temple and a future second-round pick.
Still, the possibility of jumping the gun on the trade is being looked into, and penalties could result, given that it was a “complicated sign-and-trade deal that was reported as being done the minute that free agency opened on Monday,” noted Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors.
Ball agreed to a four-year, $85 million contract to join the Bulls, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
