The NBA on ESPN account joined several other handles owned by Disney in not posting anything to X (formerly known as Twitter) over the weekend, per Sean Keeley and Matt Clapp of Awful Announcing.
NBA on ESPN joined the likes of SportsCenter, ESPN CFB, College GameDay and ESPN’s NFL handle by not posting anything to X on Saturday. The same was true of the main ESPN account.
As relayed by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk: “A controversy over antisemitic content on X prompted an advertising pause on Friday by Disney (ESPN’s parent company), IBM, Amazon, NBCUniversal, and Apple.”
The NBA on ESPN handle returned to the platform late Sunday night to mention LeBron James‘ 37-point effort and game-clinching free throw in a win over the Rockets. (Hoops Wire story.)
That account, which has 8.8 million followers, has not posted anything else as of Monday afternoon EST.

“While one might be able to write off one or two accounts going dark as a miscommunication or human error, it becomes clear that there appears to be a Disney mandate in place once you consider that all of those accounts are posting as normal on other social media platforms,” Keeley and Clapp wrote late Saturday.
