The New York Knicks traded Fournier to the Pistons on February 8. Detroit has the worst record in the NBA, so some people thought Fournier would get bought out.

However, Stein is reporting that “all signs” point toward Fournier remaining with the Pistons, who are 8-48.

“All signs, league sources say, point to Evan Fournier staying put in Detroit for the rest of the season,” Stein wrote.

Fournier is making $18.9 million this season. He has a club option next season worth $19 million.

The 31-year-old Fournier is averaging 8.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.1 blocks this season with the Knicks and Pistons while shooting 38.5% from the field, 32.4% from beyond the arc and 77.8% from the free-throw line.

Fournier signed a four-year, $73 million contract with the Knicks in August 2021 as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Boston Celtics. The forward was removed from New York’s rotation last season in November.

The Denver Nuggets selected Fournier with the 20th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. Fournier has career averages of 13.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.2 blocks with the Nuggets, Orlando Magic, Celtics, Knicks and Pistons.

The Knicks acquired Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks from the Pistons at the NBA trade deadline. They are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings with a strong record of 34-23.
