Former Warriors general manager Bob Myers, the architect of four championship teams, will help in the search for a new coach and head of football operations with the NFL’s Washington Commanders, team owner Josh Harris said.
Harris is also the principal owner of the 76ers.
Former Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman will also help with the Commanders’ search, Harris added. The Commanders fired coach Ron Rivera on Monday.
“To deliver upon our ultimate goal of becoming an elite franchise and consistently competing for the Super Bowl, there is a lot to do, and first we must establish a strong organizational infrastructure led by the industry’s best and most talented individuals,” Harris said. “As such, we will conduct a thorough search process to ensure we find the right candidates to guide this franchise forward.”
Myers and Spielman will assist Harris and Commanders limited partners Magic Johnson, Mitch Rales, and David Blitzer in locating a new front office and head coach.
The Sixers have been competitive most years with Harris as the principal owner, but have yet to reach the Finals with him at the helm.
Myers is a former player agent and will continue to serve in his role as NBA analyst with ESPN.
