Point guard Frank Jackson has agreed to a two-year contract to return to the Pistons, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Jackson, 23, is 6-foot-3 and was a restricted free agent. He is coming off an underrated season in which he averaged 9.8 points on 46 percent shooting in 40 appearances.
He was initially selected by the Pelicans in the second round (No. 31 overall) of the 2017 NBA Draft, but missed all of his rookie year following a pair of foot surgeries.
New Orleans opted not to issue him a qualifying offer in 2020, allowing him to enter free agency. He then signed a two-way deal with Detroit.
He will be part of backcourt rotation that includes No. 1 overall draft pick Cade Cunningham, Killian Hayes and Saben Lee. So there should be plenty of opportunity for Jackson.
Terms of his new deal with the Pistons have not been reported.
