Free agent guard Frank Ntilikina is drawing interest from Italian club Virtus Bologna, according to a report from BasketNews.com.
Ntilikina is a candidate to replace Nico Mannion, the former Warriors guard who will miss the start of the season with an intestinal infection.
“We are looking on the market for an element to be included, a point guard who can also remain in the future,” Bologna coach Sergio Scariolo said, via EuroHoops. “Because of that, we focus on young people who can give something important, rather than a veteran addition.”
Ntilikina, 23, is 6-foot-4 and was selected by the Knicks with the No. 8 overall draft pick in 2017. But he fell almost entirely out of the rotation under coach Tom Thibodeau as New York made a run to the playoffs last season.
The Knicks renounced his rights in early August.
Ntilikina has drawn only minimal interest from NBA teams with the start of training camp about three weeks away.
