G League Releases Schedule, Starting With Rebranded Tip-Off Tournament

The G League has released its 2024-25 schedule, and the Winter Showcase is no more. Actually, it still exists, it’s just called something different.Zhaire Smith, Cleveland Charge, G League

That would be no less than the newly named Tip-Off Tournament, and it is exactly as it sounds. All 31 teams will play 14 games after being split into four regions, and the four with the best winning percentages at the end, along with the next four from any region, will advance to the single-elimination tournament.

Everything tips off on Nov. 8, with the semifinals taking place Dec. 19-21 in Orlando.

After that, the 34-game regular season begins, with teams divided into two conferences (just as in the NBA, they are called the Eastern and Western). The regular season runs from Dec. 27 to March 29.

After that, it’s the G League playoffs, consisting of the top six teams from each conference.

There will again be 31 teams, though the G League Ignite no longer exist. They have been replaced by the Valley Suns, Phoenix’s affiliate. Also, the Clippers’ affiliate is moving to San Diego and has been renamed the San Diego Clippers. (No word on if Swen Nater and Randy Smith will return.)

This year also marks the first time each of the 30 NBA teams has its own affiliate G League club. The Mexico City Capitanes are the lone unaffiliated team.
