Free agent point guard Goran Dragic is meeting with the Bucks on Saturday and intends to sign with the team for the rest of the season, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Dragic, 36, recently cleared waivers after being released by the Bulls earlier this week. He appeared in 51 games this season, his first with Chicago, averaging 6.4 points and 2.7 assists. Along with that, he shot 43 percent from the field and 35 percent on 3-pointers.
So Milwaukee is clearly banking on the idea that he has something left, and can fill the old role held by George Hill in backing up starter Jrue Holiday. (Hill was traded to the Pacers in February.)
Meanwhile, the Bulls recently signed guard Patrick Beverley, a move that immediately cut into Dragic’s opportunities.
Dragic has also spent time with the Nets, Heat, Raptors, Rockets, and Suns since entering the NBA in 2008.
“The Bucks believe Dragic’s tough-minded leadership and abilities can help them off the bench in their championship pursuit,” Wojnarowski wrote.
Once free agent Goran Dragic completes his meetings in Milwaukee this afternoon, he plans to sign a deal with the Bucks for the rest of the season, sources tell ESPN. https://t.co/SF6OVesO6Y
