Grizzlies power forward Brandon Clarke will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn left Achilles tendon, agent Mark Bartelstein told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Grizzlies confirmed the injury in a press release, saying that Clarke will be out “indefinitely.”
Clarke, 26, is 6-foot-8 and has been the ultimate energy guy in Memphis, averaging 10.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in 58 games, mostly off the bench. He is shooting a career-high 66 percent from the field.
The Grizzlies will clearly need someone else to step up, and may even turn their attention to the list of playoff-eligible veteran free agents.
It’s been a rough weekend for the Grizzlies overall, as the Clarke news came just shortly after the team announced star point guard Ja Morant won’t play in at least the next two games. The NBA is investigating a social media post involving Morant.
