Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant suffered no significant break or fracture in his right hand in Game 1 of the playoff loss to the Lakers, per Shams Charania of The Athletic via FanDuel TV.
Morant could potentially suit up and play in Game 2, Charania added.
“I’m told there are no breaks, no fractures in Ja Morant’s hand,” Charania said. “As of right now it’s being treated as more of a pain-tolerance injury, something that (the Grizzlies) are going to continue to monitor today.
“It’s clearly severe enough and painful enough to where Ja Morant said the other night he felt it was a 10 out of 10 when it comes to pain. So his status is still very much up in the air for Game 2 on Wednesday.”
The Grizzlies were already without injured center Steven Adams and forward Brandon Clarke entering the series. Without Morant, clearly, even just a 1-0 hole might prove insurmountable.
