Grizzlies standout point guard Ja Morant is likely to miss “multiple weeks” with his injured knee, coach Taylor Jenkins told reporters, via Evan Barnes of the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
Morant suffered the injury Friday vs. the Hawks, and the Grizzlies feared the worst. But an MRI revealed a left knee sprain. Morant was using a crutch as he greeted the Grizzlies’ starters prior to their game Sunday.
Jenkins made clear there is no set timeline for Ja Morant before saying he could miss a “couple of” weeks. Each week will give a better idea of where he’s at with his recovery and there will be updates as needed
But the Grizzlies don’t anticipate it being a longterm injury

Morant, 22, is 6-foot-3 and is averaging 24.1 points, 6.8 assists and 5.6 rebounds, shooting 48 percent from the field, in 19 games.
“Memphis will still be without its best player for several games, meaning guards Tyus Jones and De’Anthony Melton will likely see increased minutes,” wrote JD Shaw of Hoops Rumors, noting that Jones got the start on Sunday.
