Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant will miss at least a week with a Grade 2 sprain of his left ankle, the team announced.
Morant, 23, is 6-foot-3 and suffered the injury during Friday’s win over the Thunder. Per the Grizzlies, his return to play timeline is considered week-to-week.
He needed assistance to get off the court and back to the locker room after suffering the injury, and joins co-starting guard Desmond Bane on the sideline. Bane recently suffered a sprained big toe.
Morant, in his third NBA season, is averaging 28.6 points, 7.1 assists and 6.2 rebounds in 14 games, shooting 47 percent from the field. The Grizzlies (10-6) went 20-5 without Morant over the past three seasons, but they also had Bane in those games, as relayed by Michael Wallace of Grizzlies.com.
